Sky Q is the ‘next generation’ of box set that Sky has to offer. It is a great mix of entertainment that will keep you from boredom indefinitely!
This is a great showcase of Sky’s understanding of the latest habits in how we, the customer are consuming entertainment in the form of movies and TV shows of late.
With us all quickly transitioning to almost exclusively streaming on-demand entertainment as opposed to going through the fuss of finding what you want to watch via a clunky TV guide.
A great feature of Sky Q is that it allows you the ability to watch your downloaded content via the new Sky Q app, this is downloadable on any tablet or smartphone. This app essentially gives you the power to watch your downloaded content on the go, using your smartphone or tablet leaving you no time to be bored!
Speaking of apps, Sky has also released another new app ‘Sky Kids’ which is essentially a great collection of, would you have guessed, kids television and nothing else for your children to enjoy without having to sift through all of the adult content they aren’t interested in.
On top of the release of this children’s app Sky made a very valiant effort at making the Q menus more maneuverable in terms of finding children’s content.
Another great this included with the Sky Q is its ability of outputting 4K or Ultra HD content.
Now that i’ve told you all about the software of the Sky Q service, I will now go on to explain what the Hardware has to offer.
The main feature of the Sky Q Silver package is ts Q Silver box, this small little cube like thing is a lot smaller than its close relative the Sky HD box yet manages to house a massive 2TB (terabytes) of data. Also in this box are five tuners, which allow the user to record 4 different programmes simultaneously, here’s the cool part, while watching another TV show!
Another cool twosome of hardware is also included in the Sky Q Silver package, in the form of ‘The Sky Q Mini boxes’ these twins are essentially bite size versions of the main box. Their main use is to allow the user to wirelessly connect to two other TV\s in different rooms of your house, which you can then stream your downloaded shows to, wirelessly, without the need of being connected the your main Sky dish.
