8th July sees the launch of Sky Cinema, replacing Sky Movies as the latest way to enjoy films on Sky. Customers have been told that they can expect to see movies straight from the cinema to their own home screens before any other subscription service. The new look Sky Cinema comes with a wealth of exciting new features.
Fancy a new movie premiere every day? You can get that with which is 75% more than Sky Movies offered previously. The big blockbusters will be available to you on Sky Cinema 8 months after they come out at the actual cinema and a full year before any of the other subscription services offer them. Plus, you get over 1,100 movies on demand, to watch whenever you want. That’s more than you got with Sky Movies.
Sky are updating to new, improved HD as standard, at no further cost to you. With Sky Cinema you should never lose picture quality. With their new format, you get a third more pixels (that’s 2 million versus 1.5 million pixels, in case you’re interested in that sort of thing). And there’s four times as many colour shades (1024 versus 256 for each primary colour). In layman’s terms that means a sharper and more vibrant picture.
And what’s that we hear? Even better sound – closer to what you’d hear in the cinema. The audio dynamic range has increased so that you experience every explosion and hear every whisper – no more adjusting the volume!
Sky Cinema will feature movie collections, making it easier than ever to find content that you want to watch. Don’t worry, you don’t have to change a thing – you can get all this with your current TV and still watch across devices using Sky Go.
