Sky has their own team of workers called the ‘Sky Switch Squad’ which is a team put together to make the entire process of Switching providers an easy and stress free time.
This Squad will do you the service of talking to your current provider telling them you are making the switch so you don’t have to.
You can also keep your current phone number with you to Sky and not have to worry about telling everybody you have a new phone number.
Something worth mentioning though, is the fact that if you are switching from Virgin Media (cable), you will have to ensure you have cancelled your Broadband service as your phone number has made the switch to Sky.
If you are switching from Plusnet, BT, Virgin Media National (non-cable), O2 or TalkTalk
And already have a phone that is active in your house when it comes to the time it will take for your to switch, while it will mainly depend on your current provider, but it generally will take you around 2 weeks after you actually place your order with Sky.
On the day that the switch is taking place there will be a small time frame in which you will lose service. This no service will be around 5 minutes of no dial tone, then 20 minutes of not receiving any incoming calls.
If you are switching from Virgin Media’s cable service or no or don’t already have an active phone line, then the process will be a little different for you. Initially, Sky will attempt to switch your line on remotely, to explain, they will essentially click a couple of buttons and then your phone line will be automatically activated without any physical contact or you having to do anything more than make the request. But if this doesn’t work then Sky will have you book and engineer appointment, Sky will then remind you of the appointment as the date nears.
If for any reason you are unhappy with the date set for your appointment then you may change your appointment up to 24 hours beforehand.
You will simply sign in using your Sky ID username and password on the Sky website, if you don’t already have an account you can very easily go through the account creation process on the Sky website.
As I mentioned before you may bring your current phone number from your old provider to sky if this is not what you want to do, or you do not already have a phone number sky will simply provide you with one.
Overall switching with Sky is a very simple process in which you essentially, place your oder, make an appointment if needed, and then you’re part is done!
